BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS TO OPPORTUNITY IN EVERY CONSTITUENCY

Ahead of the General Election, the Breaking Down Barriers Commission is asking candidates to make their Breaking Down Barriers Pledge - that means pledging to do all you can to break down the barriers to opportunity in your local communities.

Candidates of all political parties are being asked to do all they can to achieve the ambitions of the pledge.

THE PLEDGE

1. Support my local schools, colleges and universities to deliver quality careers advice and mentoring to break down barriers to opportunity.

2. Work with local businesses and employers in my constituency to partner with schools, colleges and universities to deliver careers, advice, mentoring work experience and/or apprenticeship opportunities.

3. Provide young people from disadvantaged backrounds in my constituency with work experience or apprenticeship opportunities in my Constituency or Westminster office.

HAS YOUR CANDIDATE BACKED THE PLEDGE?

SIGN THE PLEDGE

If you are a Parliamentary Candidate, sign the pledge to break down barriers to opportunity.

There is no formal monitoring of the Pledge, or any spending commitments associated with it. It is a simply a declaration to do all you can as a future MP to break down the barriers to opportunity.

Once you sign up, the Pledge team will follow up with a template press release for use in your local community, and a graphic for use on social media.
